How sad. Rest in peace.

It is so upseting to see an Afircan American american man trying to do right, and sadly taken away. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. My only wish is that he is in resting peacefully among the many others we have lost.

I really enjoyed watching this young man on Moesha it's amazing how u can feel like you know somebody just from watching them on TV. He will be missed and may god hold him in the palm of his hand.

I enjoyed his role on moesha. When somebody told me he was died i thought they was joking but they wasn't. may his soul R.I.P.

Another young African-American,not just celebrity, but young man taken away from those who may see him as a role model and someone who could inspire other's to follow their dreams.
Too bad the drug or alcohol aspect had to be assesed, instead of just the thought that a hard working young man may have fallen asleep at the wheel. May God strengthen his family as they have just begun to grieve. He know longer needs our prayers, he is now smiling down on us all and praying that we may someday be in the heavenly gardens also. My prayer's are with his family, both blood relations, his T.V. family and to all of us his devoted fans as we do mourn the loss also.God bless.

That is a very sad story to hear. He will be missed so much. My deepest condolences go out to all of his loved ones.

Years ago I remember telling my mom I wanted to meet a famous person and she said, "You will one day." Recently after that I went to the Circle City Classic. It was my first time going so I was full of excitement. I wanted to see Brandy. I am a huge fan of hers. I seen a car that had "MOESHA" on the side and I looked up and it said "Lamont Bentley" I was soooo excited to see someone so close to Brandy. I screamed out "LAMONT!!!" He looked up and I waved at him and he waved at me too. Then the car stopped so I ran to the car and I stood right next to him. I tapped his shoulder until he looked at me...He looked and I said "Can I have a hug?" Lamont gave me hug and I was sooooooo happy!!!! I also have his autograph. He seemed to be really nice. I couldn't wait to go home and watch Moesha to say "I met Hakeem!! I met him!!!" And TODAY....The news that I found out is heart breaking. I can't explain the way I feel. I wish there was something that I could do...but sadly, the thing I want to do, which is turn back the hands of time is IMPOSSIBLE. But there is one thing I can do and that is pray for Lamont's family, friends, and fans. He absence is definitely going to be hard. But God's Will must be done and He knows all things....Lamont is now in a place that he would never leave to return to this world...He is in Heaven!! Free from pain, sadness, and heartache. He will never die again. He is where we will be one day...Get God, Know GOD, and with all of your hearts LOVE and TRUST GOD...I will pray for the family, friends, and his other fans...MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL...

Nobody knows the time nor the hour, only God knows. During this time of bereavement may the family remember the laughs that the share with my brother in christ. Remember the good times that you shared with him. And above all remember that he is in a better place. I cant believe another celebrity died. First, there was 2pac,biggie,Big Pun,Aaliyah,Left Eye and now Lamont Bentley. When I had rad about what had happened, I was shocked along with sad. I would like to give my sincere prayers to Lamont's family who are still grieving this time. When my sister phoned me about the tragic news it just broke my heart to know that another talented person had to go, but at least we all know that he is in a wonderful and peaceful place now. I felt so close to him because every morning I would be sitting right by the tv watching "Moesha" and 'til this day I still watch it. The angels will protect you Lamont. R.I.P WE ALL LOVE YOU

When I first heard about Moesha, I was excited to see it because Brandy was in it. When I saw the show all of the characters and the actors became favorites of mine. Lamont Bentley was a great actor and protrayed Hakeem very well. I am very saddened of his passing and may he rest in peace. He was a good man and he through his acting was a great role model for all us young males out here today.

i just said a prayer for lamont's family and will keep them in prayer. it is very sad to hear this happened. i really enjoyed his role in moesha as hakeem and i thought he was good in the wash. i often thought about where he was and what he was up to and then to hear what happened was truly sad. it was a relief however to hear there were no drugs and alcohol in his system, i wondered if he suffered a seizure or something....but anyway we must keep his family and children in my prayers.

It's true that sometimes we feel we know celebrities. I looked at Lamont bentley like he was my little brother. His "Hakeem" character was like many young men in my neighborhood. He was funny, warm,smart, a little annoying(smile), but real. Whenever an rerun of "Moesha" comes on my television. I simply can't watch it. I feel as though I am in actual mourning. I felt the same way when Merlin Santana from "The Steve Harvey Show" was killed. I can now watch Merlin, and appreciate his talent, and one day I will be able to do the same with Lamont. My prayers are with his family and all who knew and loved him. Rest in Peace Mr. Bentley.

I used to watch Moesha all the time and still do to this day. I didn't find out that Lamont had passed until a couple of hours ago I had just read in a magazine when I read that my heart dropped beacuse just the other night i was watching moesha. but as Lamont rest in a better place it sends me a message to get my life together and to live my life to the fullest because life is not promised to anyone and I hope that Lamonts family, friends, and fans are doing well and know that he is in a better place.

I really enjoyed watching all of Lamont's movies and all of the shows he had played in. He was a very well respected actor, and it's sad that he had to depart from us at such a young age. I remeber how I found out, I was watching BET Styles and his name had flashed across the screen of the television myself and my family was very crushed about the whole thing. Everybody needs to come to terms that life is to short to waste we should enjoy it while we still can because you never know when your time may come.

It's terrible because I only just found out about Lamont Bentley's passing a few days ago and had to type in a search because I just couldn't believe it. After reading all the other tributes to him, the shock is gone and sadness has taken it's place as it is now confirmed that his death is true. I give my heartfelt condolences to Lamont's family and want them to remember the blessing of him being their presence, no matter how short the time.... know that you all will meet again. I would also like for those reading these tributes to him to realize that life is short but it's what you make of it that makes a world of difference just like Lamont having the impact he did on all of his fans. i'm so sorry that he died. he was my cousin actually i found that out at age 13. i'm 16 1/2 now. i feel upset because i won't get a chance to meet him in this life but i will one day. i will miss him but i must move on. i hope our family will be alright his mother and father and all. it's too bad me and my other cousins won't get a chance to meet him. god bless.

He was a real good actor and very cute! I was shocked when I heard that he died in a car accident. I couldn't believe it. I felt like my heart had jumped out of my chest. However, he will be missed. It's kinda strange when I watched the Hammer movie, "Too Legit." And he died in that one... now it's like... he's gone forreal. My sincere condolences to the fam of lamont, he will definitely be missed. I'm hoping that his mom is doing okay. I know how it is to lose someone so close in your life. May the lord be with his family. He is in a better place and no harm shall come toward him. I didn't know him. And from watching him on TV - I was really only getting to know a character. But from seeing interviews and hearing his friends and coworkers talk about him - i got the idea that he was loyal, intelligent, determined, and funny. That he was kind and sensitive to those around him. That his untimely death was unfair and that he lived each day to the fullest.
To his family and friends, It appeared to me as though he would have lived by this quote,
"Do not fear death so much, but rather the inadequate life."
His ability to make people laugh, his talent, his larger than life personality, will be missed greatly.

I was watching the NAACP image awards the other day and they did a tribut to everyone that we've lost this year and it took me away. I had to do some research on the computer to verify that it was Hakeem. I just found out about the death of Lamont Bently just a day before Easter. I was so shocked. I thought that it was just a rumor so I looked it up on the internet. When I found out it was true I was devastated. I never knew him personally I just knew him as "Hakeem" from Moesha, I grew up watching his role on T.V. so it was like I knew him for real. My heart and best wishes go out to his family and all his other fans and I pray that he will rest in eternal peace forever.

I am deeply sadden for the lost of Lamont Bentley. I had no ideal he died until a week later after a rerun of moesha went off. When my t.v screen read "In loving memory of Lamont Bentley," my heart literrally dropped.It was hard hearing about his passing knowing that I grew up watching him on television and I am only 14 now. My heart goes out to his two daughters because I know how it is to not have a father or to grow up without one. My condolences goes out to his family he will be truly missed.

I am really shocked to have heard that Lamont Bentley passed away back in January of this year. I agree that as popular as he was, not enough was done to celebrate his accomplishments and memory. I will always cherish the laughter he brought into my life on his role on Moesha. Personally, I believe he was the star of the show and every week I tuned in to see Lamont.

To the family of Lamont i am very sorry that you had to go through so much pain of a love one. I know how it fells. I lost many people that I love including someone like a boyfriend of shooting crime. So i am very sorry. The felling a pain of your love one will never leave. But you'll know he is in a very special and safe place, and he wouldn't want you to hurt any more.

I was Lamont's 8th grade English teacher and he was one of my all time favorite students. I love watching reruns of Moesha with my daughter and telling her what he was like in class. He made me laugh then as he has made me laugh since. I did not hear of his death until today and am very saddened by it. So is my daughter. My deepest condolences to his family for their loss.

I couldn't believe when I heard. It's been four months since I heard (February) and I'm still in shock. I can't believe that I saw absolutely no news coverage on it. Such a shame.I was at the hair dresser in February, a month after he died and happened to open some black magazine and by chance I saw his picture, as usual a big smile came on my face,now excited to read something about such a handsome talented funny, young man. Only to have that smile wiped off seconds later, after reading. I have tears in my eyes when i think of it and I wish his family and friends all the best. Stay strong guys, he's smiling down on you, watching over you in a better, brighter, happier place. Love Always.

I just recently found out about the tragic death of Artimus "Lamont" Bentley. I was so devasted to here about the car accident this past January(2005),that took his life at such a young age. I've been a fan of his for years.From South Central to Tales From The Hood to Moesha, etc. I have always appreciated and admired his work. Lamont was a great inspiration and role model I feel for young people everywhere. I think the entertainment industry has truly lost one of it's brightest and rising stars. I did not know him personally, but I will still truly miss him, and all that he was. My heart truly goes out to his family and friends. I remember when i was on The-Nwebsite and I was on the Moesha part IT said that Lamont had died i was really sad when Moesha was upn i loved to watched it and when it came on the-n i was so exicted because now i could watch my favorite show again and i remebered Brandy and Lammont at the time i was young and didn't know his real name so i just refiered to him has Hakkeem and as soon as i saw the show on the -n if they hadn't gaven a show that they gave on the-n but they had gaven it on upn9 and then they had gaven the show i could remember what hakeem had siad from upn9 but not the other characters i luv it that hakeem just goes right in to moesha's house and somtimes calls them a n other family it's prety funny and it was funny when the mitchell's where having a familly meeting and of course hakkeem was there and no one had told him to go home yet so lamont said is should i leave now or something like that and then he said at loud to himself Hakkeem go home o.k. i know that it is silly to right this but it means that i really miss him and i wosh i could of met him so if anybody where to say do you know anybody famous and i could say yes i know lamont a.ka. haKKEEM ON MOESHA! May God have mercy on his soul. Lamont reached a lot of young people all over the world. One of the reasons why I enjoyed watching the show with my lovely daughter was to see Hakeem (Lamont). He was a positive role model for young people. May God grant strength to his family, former cast members, and friends.

Lamont Bently was like a male role-model to me,(since Klay was never there for me when I needed him). So I would tune in for advice. Since Hakeem(Lamont) never had a father, I felt like I had much in common with the character. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE.

And when I got up from sleeping in the morning I went 2 eat breakfast and whenI looked on the news I saw that Lamont had past and I broke into tears.
