Yahweh Ben Yahweh
Yahweh Ben Yahweh, the infamous founder of a violent black-supremacist sect in South Florida, died on May 7 of prostate cancer. He was 71.
Born Hulon Mitchell Jr. in Kingfisher, Okla., he was the eldest of 15 children and the son of a Pentecostal minister. Mitchell spent much of his childhood studying religion and singing in the church choir, and claimed he knew he was divine when he was only three years old. He served a stint in the U.S. Air Force and earned a psychology degree from Phillips College in Oklahoma.
During the civil rights era, Mitchell helped organize sit-ins in the South, but he became disillusioned with the movement, calling the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "that dead dog preacher." He returned to school to study law at the University of Oklahoma, and economics at Atlanta University, and joined the Nation of Islam, adopting the name "Hulon X." He then preached as "Father Michael" and "Brother Love" before moving to Miami in 1976. There the self-proclaimed "Black Messiah" changed his name yet again, this time to "Yahweh Ben Yahweh," the Hebrew words for "God, son of God," and became the founder and spiritual leader of the Nation of Yahweh.
Unlike leaders of other religious sects, Yahweh didn't believe in celibacy. Twice married and the father of four children, he frequently slept with many of his female followers, some as young as 10 years old. The charismatic leader, who was known for wearing jeweled turbans and flowing white robes, often called himself the "Original Jew," and said his disciples were the true descendants of a long-lost tribe of Israel. He was always guarded by a group of men called the Circle of 10, each of whom were armed with a six-foot wooden staff. Many of Yahweh's teachings were laid out in his book, "You Are Not A Nigger! The Original Black Bible (Our True History, The World's Best Kept Secret)."
Formed in 1979, the Nation of Yahweh is a cult of Christianity. Although based on teachings of the Bible, the group believes Yahweh was the son of God, and that God, Jesus and the apostles were all black. Followers were urged to break from the "immoral world" and publicly state that they would die and/or kill for God/Yahweh. Each male member was also required to drop their "slave name" and adopt "Israel" as a surname.
Also known as the Church of Love, the Nation of Yahweh promoted Christian teachings, family values and urged kids to stay away from drugs. At its height in the 1980s, the cult claimed thousands of members and built an empire of businesses worth approximately $100 million. Community leaders praised the organization for helping to rejuvenate several blighted Miami neighborhoods. In 1987, the Miami Urban League presented Yahweh with its highest humanitarian award. Three years later, Miami Mayor Xavier L. Suarez declared Oct. 7 to be Yahweh Ben Yahweh Day and gave him the keys to the city.
The Nation of Yahweh also preached hatred and religious separatism for blacks. The group was linked to nearly two dozen brutal murders and the fire bombing of a Delray Beach, Fla., neighborhood. Yahweh was accused of sending followers to kill "white devils" as part of an initiation rite, and ordered victims' ears or heads cut off as proof they were slain. In Nov. 1990, he and 15 followers were indicted on three counts of federal racketeering and extortion charges. The indictment mentioned 18 instances of racketeering that included 14 killings, two attempted killings, extortion and arson. Although he was defended by former federal judge and current U.S. Rep. Alcee L. Hastings (D-Fla.), Yahweh was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, but not racketeering, and sentenced to 18 years in prison. He served 11 years before being released on parole in 2001.
The Nation of Yahweh is still active, with chapters in the United States and Canada. While members continue to view Yahweh as the "Grand Master of All, the God of the Universe, the Grand Potentate, the Everlasting Father and the persecuted Messiah," many have since abandoned the cult's racist tenets. Yahweh's final years were spent landscaping, reading and writing.

After all of my years of searching for the truth, I have finally found it in the Nation of Yahweh and Yahweh Ben Yahweh.
All of this talk about brainwashing, murder, trials and cults makes absolutely no difference in the actual message extolled by this man. The man ultimately delivered a message of peace and truth that every Black person needs to at least give some thought to.
These sciptures say it all: John 10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
John 10:38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
I challange you to find any other person, especially Black leaders, that has or can fulfill this scripture.
It was never proven that Yahweh Ben Yahweh committed any of the crimes he was accused of, but there is a mountain of documented evidence of his good works.
To all of you that got caught up in idolizing the man instead of his message, by now you realize that it was your own typical stiff necked, Hebrew tendencies that put you into that situation.
Yahweh Ben Yahweh never asked you to "idolize" him; in fact he warned you many times against that very thing; he often told you to close your eyes. He told you that if you didn't stop with the "body worship" he would have to remove himself from the picture ... think about it.
Yahweh Ben Yahweh is not gone; only his body is not accessible to you that have a problem concentrating on the message; he is still here - making his message loud and clear.
For those of you that need an actual person or "body" - remember, the "comforter" is still promised to you.

He taught that we did not know "his" father God, so we can only talk about that which we knew...him! They even say, "Praise Yahweh ben Yahweh!" If that ain't hero worship/man worship then I don't know what is!
The ONLY reason Yahweh ben Yahweh was not found guilty of murder is because he was put on trial for R.I.C.O., which is a federal crime. Like the mafia and other corrupt organizations, the leaders NEVER have to do any actual killing. He sent his puppets, minions, peons/brainwashed followers out to do his bidding. There's no mystery here! Unlike the ignorance being perpetuated in these posts, YBY had enough sense not to bloody his own hands!

Posted by Ovadya on May 29, 2008 8:35 PMI met a man years ago,late 80's or early 90's,and he was called yahweh ben yahweh.I was living in Harlen, New york at the time and he was a "street preacher" so to speak.Very large,tall man ,long beard,fair skinned and he expressed sexual fantasy to me .he was a very lustful man with a big ego.I often wondered whatever happened to this person.

Yeah, I've heard the "Catholic Church" argument before! Yahweh ben Yahweh used it to justify his terror! But your argument is flawed! I'l tell you why! First of all, there are MILLIONS of Catholics world wide, and generally speaking, when a Catholic commits a crime, he is doing it of his on will. He doesn't praise the pope as "son of God." He's probably never met the pope! Neither does his religion teach death to the enemies!
On the other hand, the followers of Yahweh ben Yahweh number in the thousands (maybe 4,000 total). Those who have committed crimes are DIRECTLY linked to the leader! Some have even confessed that they were carrying out Yahweh ben Yahweh's orders! You never hear Catholics say "I was carrying out the Pope's orders!" So your argument is stupid!
Catholicism is a bona fide religion! They don't separate themselves from the world and have messianic dreams of the Pope as messiah or son of God phenom. You can't find a hate-filled speech given by the pope! But you sure as hell can find hate-filled speeches given by Yahweh ben Yahweh! His literature (especially his corny-ass book "You are not a nigger") is riddled with hate language against the white man (whom he calls devil, satan), and white Jews.
There is no comparison between the Catholic church (and their membership) and the Yahweh cult (and their fanatical "I'll die for Yahweh" membership!)

I believe that in time everyone will find what it is that they need to forgive and move on in this world. If you were not there in the beginning to know the damages that was placed on the people who, at that time were looking for peace, affection, and guidance when there was none, and to be abused and used over time by someone who needed help themselves, then you really don't have room to comment on the outcome of something that turned out to be a life-long mess, not only for those people who have first hand knowledge of what really happened, but for their families who watched the years unfold. YOU WE MUST FORGET WHAT WAS TAUGHT(LIES) AND SEARCH TRUTH AND WHEN YOU DO YOU WILL FEEL COMPLETE AND CONNECTED TO OUR TRUE GOD. I loved Yahweh Ben Yahweh. He was a teacher and a great leader. He taught me and my family who God is. He also taught us our history. I respect him and will never forget what he taught me. It saddens me to see all of those negative remarks. All I can say is, I know that Yahweh is real and I thank Ben Yahweh for helping me find him.
